Bradford Camera Exchange North Parade Winter 1979
Pictures taken as re the title, Bradford Camera's address then was 24 North Parade, sandwiched between Kitchens Music shop and Table Decor, later (80s) Table Decor would take over 24 North Parade as part of there shop expansion.
Winter 79' was a little more exceptional than we were used to back then, with long periods of freezing conditions and heavy falls of snow. I recall that the company had 3 Mini Vans with the Bradford Camera logo and lettering on the side, these were bought from St Enoch's Garage Wibsey, and if my memory serves me well the registration numbers were as follows, WCX 519R (Director John Greenwood) WCX 529R (fellow Director Des Vertity) and your truly WCX539R

The 3 vehicles could always be seen shooting all over Bradford, and were a good advert for the company, I recall many a time motorists giving me a wave, (presumably customers) at traffic lights etc, one felt obliged to wave back, which I usually did, because Bradford people were known for their frendliness, those were the times then, for after all, Bradford Camera Exchange was a well established company with an excellent reputation for service, and well known in the city.
Bradford people were proud of their independent shops, and they had every reason too, as people from far and wide would visit the city, to seek out the specialist dealer's that the city had to offer in abundance.
I was talking to John Greenwood last week ( 12th August 2011) and he commented that he liked looking at the pictures as it brought back memories of the names of the shops then on North Parade. I'm not so sure how true this is, but I believe that Bradford Camera Exchange will be the longest serving shop in that area.
I still get a kick out of looking at these pictures and the memories they invoke, for they were all good!
