Chris Hyslop's Bradford City Picture Galleries

Welcome to the Bradford City picture gallery courtesy of my old friend of 35 years and still counting, Chris Hyslop. For anyone who can be bothered to read this, I feel it is incumbent upon me to give you a short history of how these pictures came about, how I know him, what he does etc.

I first got to know Chris roundabout 1975, when I worked at the old Bradford Camera Exchange branch at 24 North Parade. I have to say it was not a relationship made in heaven, both Chris and I being very different personalities. However time moved on and over the months and years we sort of grew into each other. Chris became a very good customer of Bradford Camera Exchange (still is) buying equipment, materials, services etc. When I moved down to the Market Street shop Chris brought his business down there and still to this day deals with the North Parade shop. Working for various Insurance companies over the years, he managed his time in such a way that he could pop into the shop during working hours most days of the week, giving him the opportunity to pick up the latest quality secondhand camera items and accessories that we stocked then. Don't forget, there were no mobile phones then so he usually had the pick of the crop, as most working people could only get in during their lunch hour or on a Saturday.

However Chris, being Chris, wanted to fill his time doing what he loved most, photographing and operating high-end photo equipment but tagging it on to something he also loved, which was sport. Now this is where taking Bradford City and Bradford Northern pictures comes in. Acquiring a photographer's pass, he used some top-end Canon lenses with good black & white and colour film, to produce images which would not look too much out of place today.

These pictures have never been published, and whilst we don't have the dates of the matches on every one of the galleries, I'm sure there will be one or two supporters who will get in touch to fill in any gaps. The pictures have been cleaned up and I hope they meet with the satisfaction of fans of both clubs.

Chris and I still meet up regularly when time allows. Today we find Chris running his own company - Gently Bentley - which supplies chauffeur-driven Bentley Arnage cars for weddings and other special occasions. More details can be found on www.gentlybentley.com
