Railways within the Bradford BD Postcode

It's at the suggestion of David Glass, a regular contributor to Bradfordeye, that this gallery exists at all, for I have no knowledge of Railways, Railway engines or indeed anything remotely to do with them, although I can hold my hand up and say that I met Joe Brown ( the 60s pop star) at York Railway Museum sometime in the 80s, I assumed at the time that he had some interest them. Having said that I must admit to being awestruck at the size and power of these transport monsters, especially the steam engines, for I remember coming to Bradford in the late 60s where living in the Laisterdyke part of the city, on Napier Street, I was first captivated by the smell (lanolin I think it was) coming from Whiteheads Mill, with the secondary smell coming from the steam trains as they trudged up the very steep hill from Bradford Exchange Station, making their way to Leeds, stopping off at Laisterdyke station, transporting workers to and  from Bradford city centre. I still have the memory of those smells when ever I pass the Laisterdyke area. Anyway the last time I was on any form of rail transport was when David hit the grand age of 60 and very kindly invited both my wife and I as guests on the Worth Valley Steam Railway, it's one of those day out where you are given the opportunity of driving the train, being the fireman, guard etc for a whole day, he shared the duties with his eldest son Michael, who also had his wife and son along, as he shares the same interest in railways as David. I must admit both Elaine and I did not know what to expect as this train went up and down the Worth Valley (incidentally this was where scenes from the "Railway Children" were filmed) heading into Keighley and back to its base in Oxenhope, but let me say we both had one of the best days out for a long time and I used it as an opportunity to picture the event and make some quite adventurous video, which I hope to have on the site soon, I know it wont be up to the level as people who make this their all consuming passion, but it will certainly give a flavour of that lovely summer day in 2011where we treated Royally by David  his wife Margaret, and  the volunteers at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Now for the gallery, any picture featuring Railways within the Bradford BD postcode, of good quality and possibly a little different from the usual run of the mill. I will try to avoid pictures that are similiar to each other, that's unless they're part of an  interesting sequence. What would make the gallery a little more interesting would be the inclusion of text giving names, numbers, location, and dates, gosh I'm sounding like a reall railway  anorak now. Well why not, I think it will attract alot of  Worldwide  traffic. And just in case you think, that I'm not much up to running this gallery, and you would be correct there! Then rest assured, expert help in the form of David will be on hand to advise as to what is included or not.

The first set of pictures are all from David, well he did suggest this gallery, didn't he!
